PRESS RELEASE

PPNT Gathering Early Mother’s Day Presents for Local Homeless and Displaced Moms
Planned Parenthood to present diapers, bottles, formula and clothes to local moms

DALLAS – For the fourth year in a row, Planned Parenthood of North Texas (PPNT) is showing support for the welfare of local mothers-in-need and their children by sponsoring a large-scale donation drive for partner organizations through May 4th.

PPNT's annual "Meet the Need for Moms in May" aims to collect more than 1,500 pounds of childcare supplies this year, just in time for Mother's Day. Staff, supporters and patients will donate hundreds of new and unused items such as diapers, formula and infant clothes for homeless and abused mothers and their children.

Days before Mother's Day, PPNT will deliver the supplies to three local relief organizations: The Vogel Alcove in Dallas County (a day care center for homeless women's children), Hope's Door of Collin County (a live-in shelter for abused & displaced women and their children), and SafeHaven of Tarrant County (a live-in shelter for women and their children).

"For more than 70 years, Planned Parenthood of North Texas has offered many programs that focus on improving the health of women and their families," said PPNT President and CEO Jim Roderick.  "By collecting hundreds of pounds of childcare supplies for mothers, we are able to reach out to a sometimes overlooked population — displaced women and their children."

PPNT will be collecting items at several clinics throughout North Texas. Collection boxes will be in clinic waiting rooms, and online donations can be made via ppnt.org, with donation money used to purchase additional supplies for the drive.

Your readers can find more information about how to help, where to donate and how the "Meet the Need" program works at ppnt.org or 214-363-2004. They can also make a Mother's Day donation online, in honor of their mother or someone they love.
