DALLAS - Across their 57 county region in all 28 health clinics, Planned Parenthood of North Texas (PPNT) is offering $10 off an annual exam for new female patients in recognition of National Women's Health Week, May 14 through 19.
An annual exam includes breast and cervical cancer screening, blood pressure screening and the detailed evaluation of a patient's medical history. PPNT provides referrals for specialists as needed.
National Women's Health Week was created eight years ago by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to raise awareness about manageable steps women can take to improve their health. The focus is on the importance of incorporating simple preventive and positive health behaviors into everyday life. The week will start on Mother's Day and end on the following Saturday, a time when there is much attention already focused on women.
Texas has the highest rate of uninsured residents in the nation and the largest proportion is women. More and more uninsured women have to forgo their own health care needs to fulfill the needs of their family.
To find a local clinic, patients should call 1-800-230-PLAN or go to clinic locations.
