Bill Geist: National Reporter Headlines PPNT's 2006 Annual Luncheon

FORT WORTH – More than 550 Planned Parenthood of North Texas (PPNT) supporters will hear Emmy Award winning CBS correspondent and author Bill Geist at the 6th Annual Luncheon Thursday, February 9 at the Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth at noon.

The Annual Luncheon - chaired by Marsha Kleinheinz of Fort Worth - is PPNT's largest annual fundraiser in the city and is expected to raise more than $100,000 for women's reproductive health care. Sharon Foster, a biology teacher at the Fort Worth Country Day School, will be specially recognized at the luncheon for her dedication to improving young people's scientific knowledge as well as their own personal health for the past 40 years.

Why: To support PPNT's medical and educational services for low-income families.  Bill Geist, an Emmy Award winning news correspondent, has been a correspondent for CBS News Sunday Morning since 1987. He was honored with an Emmy Award in 1992 for his report on the 66th anniversary of America's famed Route 66. He has won numerous other awards for his work as a humorist, commentator and reporter in television, newspapers and magazines and he has contributed pieces to The New York Times, The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker and other publications.

Planned Parenthood is the oldest and largest family planning organization in the United States. For 71 years, PPNT has provided compassionate medical care in North Texas. In 2005, PPNT's 28 clinics provided medical and education services to more than 97,000 patients.
