These workshops address a broad range of education needs related to sexuality and human development. We are delighted to draw on both nationally recognized authorities and local experts in their fields.
The Center for Health Training has provided nationally recognized training, technical assistance and other capacity-building support on topics related to sexual health, health care management and community-based services for more than 25 years. CHT provides customized assistance to administrators, managers, directors, clinicians, and patient and community educators who work or volunteer in a variety of health and human service settings.

ENGAGING URBAN YOUTH IN HEALTHY SEXUALITY
**Cancelled-Due to low registration numbers. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Facilitator: Ivan Juzang
Thursday, March 11, 2010 9 am - 3:30 pm / Dallas, Texas
What are the latest sexuality trends among urban youth? How are teens and youth defining sex and relationships these days? In this interactive and hands-on workshop, the presenter will share proven methods to effectively engage urban youth in discussions about sex, sexuality, reproductive health, pregnancy prevention and HIV/AIDS. He will explore how to help youth make healthier choices, abstain from sex or improve their sexual and reproductive health decision-making skills, by demonstrating argument/counter-argument dialogue techniques that change attitudes and beliefs. By examining the environmental influences, attitudes and behaviors and unique communication style of sometimes hard-to-reach youth, Juzang will enable attendees to tailor their sexual and reproductive health programs, services and community outreach efforts with cost-effective and culturally-relevant communication strategies that are shareable among youth peer groups, paving the way to an important change in norms.
This workshop is designed for social workers, counselors, educators, nurses, youth workers and other professionals who work with urban youth.

Friday, April 16, 2010 12 pm - 4pm / Dallas, Texas

In the United States, millions of young people each year contract a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Some infections are curable or can resolve themselves, while others remain with the person throughout their lifetime. Untreated infections in young people can have long-lasting, and potentially debilitating effects. Although there has been an increase in teens' use of condoms, work is needed to help youth with information and skills to lower the risk of infection. This update will cover current information and trends related to STIs affecting youth and young adults.
This workshop is designed for nurses, social workers, counselors, educators and other youth serving professionals who could use this information to meet the needs of adolescents and young adults.
