How You Can Help
PLANNED GIVING/ESTATE PLANNING

A LEGACY THAT HONORS WHAT MATTERS TO YOU MOST

Your will affirms, honors, and protects what matters most in your life – your loved ones, your principles, your values.

WHY MAKE A PLANNED GIFT TO US?

A planned gift to Planned Parenthood will help ensure that the benefits of family planning, health care, education, community programs, and reproductive choice will continue for generations to come.

Specific Bequest: Can be established through a bequest of a particular dollar amount or asset via a will.

Residuary Bequest: Through a will, a donor can give all or part of the property remaining in an estate after debts, expenses and specific bequests are paid.

Charitable Remainder Trust
A Charitable Remainder Trust will allow you and your family to receive income from your gift while you set aside assets for a future gift to Planned Parenthood.

For example, if you establish a Charitable Remainder Trust, you can:

  • Provide lifetime income for you and your spouse;
  • Add an additional source of retirement income for you, a relative, or friend;
  • Provide lifetime income, upon your death, to a surviving spouse; and
  • Make a series of payments to children timed to coincide with their college years.

While receiving the income from the trust, you are able to:

  • Set aside assets for a future gift to Planned Parenthood; and
  • Benefit immediately from an income tax charitable deduction.

Gifts of Life Insurance
You can contribute a life insurance policy to us by naming us as either the owner of the policy or simply as the beneficiary. If you name us as owner and beneficiary, you will be entitled to an income tax deduction limited to the lower of the value of the policy or your cost basis in the contract. In addition, if you continue to pay premiums on a policy that we own, you can deduct the premium payments.

Gifts of Real Estate
If you own property that is not subject to a mortgage and has appreciated in value, a charitable gift may be an attractive option. You can claim an income tax deduction based upon the fair market value of the property, avoid all capital gains taxes and remove that asset from your taxable estate. Or, you can transfer your home or farm to us now and continue to use the property for life. Due to the complexities involved, we encourage you to contact us to discuss any gift of real estate.
