How do I get on birth control?
You need to have a complete exam (including pap smear) before we can issue a prescribed method (Ex: pills, depo, patch, and nuva ring) If you have had an exam within the past year, call the clinic to find out what paperwork will be needed from the other doctors’ office. There will be a minimum fee to review these records.
How much do your services cost?
Services are based on a sliding fee scale, according to family size and income. A complete well-woman exam, which includes a pap smear, breast, and pelvic exam, will range from $55-77. Testing for sexually transmitted infection and medications are at additional charge. Some of our sites receive grant funding, which may enable those in need to receive services at a reduced rate.

Do You Take Insurance?
Planned Parenthood is not a provider for any HMO or PPO insurance plan, however, those clients with "Out of Network" benefits in their plan may be able to use their insurance if the deductible has been met. We will be happy to call your insurance to see if your visit is covered. If you have a prescription drug card through your insurance plan, PPNT will usually honor the card's price for brand name drugs. We advise patients to call their insurance plans if they are not familiar with their coverage.
Will my visit be confidential?
Visits to our clinics for services are confidential for all clients, except where state law requires us to report information. We are required to report clients under the age of 14 who are sexually active. Also, if you are a minor and report any type of abuse to us, we are required by law to report to Child Protective Services or to the local police.
Abortions services are delivered under the same confidentiality policy as stated above, however the State of Texas now requires Parental Consent for minors. Some patients do not feel that they can obtain parental consent due to domestic circumstances and opt to talk to a judge about getting this requirement waived. What kind of testing do you provide?
We offer testing for general vaginal infections, bladder infections, yeast, and can do routine blood tests such as glucose, cholesterol, anemia, etc.
We also provide screening and treatment for men and women to detect sexually transmitted infections such as: chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, condyloma (genital warts), syphilis, and HIV.
Our clinics also work with area providers to offer mammography services for women who need a baseline screening.
What if we used a condom during sex but not before?
It is best to use a condom at all times of penetration or close intimacy to lower your chances of getting pregnant. Sperm is present before ejaculation. This means that waiting to put on a condom or using 'withdrawal' is risky behavior. If you suspect a risk of pregnancy, call the clinic for more information on Emergency Contraception also known as the morning after pill. If your period is late, we would advise that you take a pregnancy test.

What can I do to prevent pregnancy if I have had unprotected sex?
Call any of our clinics for information on Emergency Contraception (the morning after pill.) Most clinics can see patients the same day they call. We recommend coming in as soon as possible following any incident of unprotected sex. You do not need an exam to get Emergency Contraception (EC) at most sites. It is an oral medication that is taken to prevent pregnancy following method failure (such as when the condom breaks) or unprotected intercourse. EC costs is $45. If the clinic that you reach cannot see you that same day, they can refer to another location that will accommodate you.
