TAKE A LOOK AT OUR PAST PUBLIC AFFAIRS EVENTS

PPNT Public Affairs often organizes special events in the North Texas area to raise awareness and educate the community about important women's health issues.  These events are a great way to meet PPNT staff, supporters, and other pro-choice community members.  To find out about upcoming events or volunteer opportunities, sign up for the Action Network or e-mail the Public Affairs Department at info.public@ppnt.org.

The War on Sex: An Evening With Cristina Page

The Texas Woman's University chapter of Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood welcomed Cristina Page, author of How the Pro-Choice Movement Saved America, to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Denton on April 17, 2008, to discuss her provocative book and the Religious Right's attacks on reproductive freedom.  The event was attended by more than 40 community members and students, and included a wonderful question and answer session with Ms. Page to discuss the future of choice and the efforts North Texans can make to protect our rights.

Thank you to those who attended this amazing event and to the volunteers who made this event a success!  To read more about Ms. Page and her work, click here.

2008 Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade

PPNT had a great time participating in the annual Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 15 in Dallas.  Close to 40 PPNT volunteers and staff made decorations the night before and then walked the parade route with our fabulous float the next day.  Volunteers and staff handed out beaded necklaces, condoms, and candy, as well as promoted Planned Parenthood's mission to the community.

Thank you to everyone who helped plan, decorate, and walk with our float!  Your time and hard work were crucial to making this event a great success.

Just before the start of the parade, everyone gathers around for a group photo with our fabulous float!

Parade volunteers march proudly in front of our float to pass out beads and condoms to the crowd.

Supporters carried signs during the parade to motivate parade-goers and direct them to our services.

Fort Worth EC Education Event

As part of PPNT's Emergency Contraception (EC) Education Campaign, we held a panel discussion on October 6, 2006 at the Community Arts Center in the Museum District of Fort Worth to discuss the FDA's delayed approval of EC for over-the-counter sales.  Our speakers for the event were Professor Donald Jackson from Texas Christian University and Dr. Susan Wood, former head of the FDA's Office of Women's Health.

Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade

On March 11, 2007, PPNT participated in the annual Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dallas.  Forty-four volunteers came out to help spread the word about EC with our float's theme "EC- You can Stop the Clock".  All the volunteers had a great time passing out 8,500 beaded necklaces (with EC information), wallet cards, key chains, and candy.  The float was a great way to raise awareness to hundreds of Dallas residents, and we even won a prize for "Most Outrageous" float!

Thank you to all the volunteers - without you this event would not have been possible.
