Reports to: Clinic Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. If functioning as bilingual (English/Spanish) FPA I, must utilize English/Spanish bilingual skills to communicate effectively with bilingual patients as needed.
    2. Demonstrates knowledge of basic current contraceptive technology and resources for basic female health care.
    3. Interviews patients to determine individual health care needs.
    4. Informs patients of clinic procedures
    5. Provides contraceptive and/or problem pregnancy education and counseling
    6. Makes referrals for additional patient care, when indicated.
    7. Performs lab work as needed on each patient and records result of height and weight, blood pressure, hematocrit, and pregnancy tests, etc.
    8. Controls flow of patients through exam rooms in order to assist clinician and expedite service.
    9. Performs all recordkeeping duties related to patient care, including pharmacy logs.
    10. Answers telephone inquiries.
    11. Schedules appointments.
    12. Calculates patient fees and collects payments.
    13. Demonstrates knowledge of handling patient insurance.
    14. Compiles monthly HIV statistics if applicable.
    15. Performs housekeeping duties within the clinic daily and as needed.
    16. Consistently meets all Customer Services Rules standards.
    17. Promotes a spirit of teamwork with co-workers.
    18. Performs moderate complexity lab testing if applicable in clinic site
    19. Travels to other sites as needed.  Travels to make bank deposits as needed.
    20. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

    • Strong commitment to family planning care and reproductive freedom.
    • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
    • Physical demands:  On feet most of the day.  Must be able to lift twenty pounds.
    • Drives own reliable transportation; must have current Texas automobile insurance, valid Texas driver’s license, and must travel to other sites as needed.
