Family Planning Asst. I
Reports to: Clinic Manager
Duties and Responsibilities:
- If functioning as bilingual (English/Spanish) FPA I, must utilize English/Spanish bilingual skills to communicate effectively with bilingual patients as needed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic current contraceptive technology and resources for basic female health care.
- Interviews patients to determine individual health care needs.
- Informs patients of clinic procedures
- Provides contraceptive and/or problem pregnancy education and counseling
- Makes referrals for additional patient care, when indicated.
- Performs lab work as needed on each patient and records result of height and weight, blood pressure, hematocrit, and pregnancy tests, etc.
- Controls flow of patients through exam rooms in order to assist clinician and expedite service.
- Performs all recordkeeping duties related to patient care, including pharmacy logs.
- Answers telephone inquiries.
- Schedules appointments.
- Calculates patient fees and collects payments.
- Demonstrates knowledge of handling patient insurance.
- Compiles monthly HIV statistics if applicable.
- Performs housekeeping duties within the clinic daily and as needed.
- Consistently meets all Customer Services Rules standards.
- Promotes a spirit of teamwork with co-workers.
- Performs moderate complexity lab testing if applicable in clinic site
- Travels to other sites as needed. Travels to make bank deposits as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to family planning care and reproductive freedom.
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Physical demands: On feet most of the day. Must be able to lift twenty pounds.
- Drives own reliable transportation; must have current Texas automobile insurance, valid Texas driver’s license, and must travel to other sites as needed.
